Youth Voices Report: Improving Access to Youth Support Services in Brighton & Hove for Ethnically Diverse Young People

The Trust for Developing Communities (TDC) is proud to present the findings from our Youth Voices research, conducted in collaboration with Brighton & Hove City Council and the Sussex Violence Reduction Partnership. This project has centred on amplifying the voices of ethnically diverse young people, highlighting their experiences with youth support services in the city, and exploring the barriers they face in accessing the help they need.

Youth Voices Report

Through youth-led research, focus groups, events, and surveys, this report unpacks the challenges faced by these young people and proposes practical solutions to enhance inclusivity and accessibility across Brighton & Hove’s support services. The findings from this study will help guide future policies and initiatives, ensuring that the city's services become more welcoming, accessible and inclusive for all.

The report is a testament to the dedication of young peer researchers, youth workers, and partner organisations, including the excellent AudioActive, who all worked tirelessly to shed light on the perceptions of Brighton & Hove’s ethnically diverse youth communities. It offers key recommendations for raising awareness, creating safe spaces, and improving service delivery—ensuring that every young person feels supported, valued, and heard.

By embracing the recommendations outlined in this report, we can begin to address systemic inequalities and work towards a fairer, more inclusive Brighton & Hove.
