Our Connected Youth Strategy

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new Connected Youth Strategy – a bold and ambitious blueprint for the future of our youth work in Brighton & Hove.

For 25 years, Trust for Developing Communities (TDC) has been a steadfast presence in our city, working alongside young people to create incredible change. But we knew we could do more. After deeply listening to young people and conducting a comprehensive review, we asked a vital question: how can we build a movement that truly connects every young person to their power, their purpose, and their city?

The answer is here.

Our new Connected Youth Strategy isn’t just about delivering services; it’s about co-creating a new ecosystem of support with young people at its very heart. We are pioneering a unique ‘Human Learning System’ approach, moving beyond traditional models to nurture lasting change.

This new system is built on three, interconnected pillars:

  • Connect Coaching: Providing high-quality, one-to-one support for young people in crisis, meeting them where they are – in schools, hospitals, youth justice and the community.
  • Connect Participation: Putting young people in the lead! We recruit those who have faced inequality to co-design and build the solutions they want to see in their neighbourhoods.
  • Connect Projects: Fostering innovation through new projects, city-wide events, and sharing our award-winning learning and training, including our renowned Brighton Streets detached work.

This strategy is our commitment to ensuring that every young person in Brighton & Hove feels connected, valued, and that they matter.
