Privacy policy

Who are we?

TDC (Trust for Developing Communities) is a community development charity (registered number 1106623) working across Brighton & Hove.

TDC takes your privacy seriously and this privacy notice sets out how we will use and store your data, in full accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018. TDC is registered with the ICO (the UK’s independent regulator in charge of upholding information rights in the interest of the public).

What information do we collect about you?

TDC collects information about you when we first speak to you, when someone refers you to us, and during our work with you. This includes:

  • Personal details about you, for example your age, your health, and ways to contact you
  • Details about the support you need or areas you are interested in getting help with
  • Information about anyone else supporting you.

We also collect information when you voluntarily complete surveys or give us feedback on our services.

The lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are your consent and legitimate interests.

We will ask for your consent to store your personal information and you may give this consent verbally or in writing. You have the right to withdraw this consent at any time. You can do this by emailing us at info@trustdevcom.org.uk.

Why do we collect this information and how will we use it?

We collect information about you so we can support you. Recording this information means we can work to deliver a service which best meets your needs. We will only use your personal information to provide services or information to you.

We share relevant information about you with other services and projects within TDC.

For some of our projects which we deliver in partnership with other organisations, we have a shared case management system. This enables us to work together to provide an effective service across Brighton and Hove. We will tell you if the support we provide to you is delivered in this way.

We also use your information to create anonymised data for general reporting and statistical purposes.

Will we share your information with others?

No. We won’t share your information with other organisations or individuals outside of TDC unless we have your permission to do so. The only exception would be where a failure to share your personal information would lead to a risk of significant harm to you or to others.

Where is your data stored?

All the information we hold about you is stored securely within TDC’s secure electronic systems. We use remote servers (‘the cloud’) to store data.

How long do we hold your data for?

We won’t hold your data for any longer than is necessary. Retention periods vary according to the reason we collected your information in the first place. We will tell you how long we will hold your information.

Can you see the information we hold about you?
