Supporting the Chinese Elders

Chinese Elders TDC Community Development Brighton

By Sayanti Banerjee, BME engagement and link worker.

This  year, TDC have continued our longstanding work with the Chinese Elders – a local Chinese older people’s group that meets weekly. Group members exchange knowledge and information about citywide services and celebrate Chinese festivals together. PC Tang the interpreter for the group has been volunteering for a number of years, he is the main point of contact and helps the group engage with local events and services. PC Tang has provided some valuable feedback over the years to the CCG and Council outlining the needs of the Chinese community in Brighton. At TDC we have funded trips for the group and invited them to our events and AGM. Our community workers work closely with the group supporting and engaging them with the local services.
